Drive the Tesla Supercar and Save the Planet

QUICKER THAN A GM EXEC SCRAMBLING FOR A BAILOUT

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the addition of the all-electric Tesla Roadster to the Vulcan Motor Club’s collection of world-class supercars. This supercar has more grunt off the blocks than a Ferrari Maranello. It has the same acceleration as a Porsche 911 – 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, or roughly the time it takes for you to read and absorb the sensational meaning of this sentence.

Tesla Roadster

The carbon-fiber-paneled roadster is made spunky by an air-cooled electric motor fed by 6,831 lithium-ion cells resembling slightly overweight AA batteries. No gas, no oil, just juice from the wall socket—amounting to about $4 worth for a single fill-up.

Press Sighting: Best Of NJ

“Not many of us can afford to own a luxury car like the Mercedes Benz pictured above, but we can all dream! The Vulcan Motor Club helps make dreams come true. They have different plans that allow their members to drive these incredible machines. They offer “Wind and Fire” tours that allow participants to drive cars that range in price from around $114,000 for the Audi R8 to a high of $495,000 for the elegant Mercedes SLR Mclaren. They also offer membership plans that allow members to take the car home for 10 to 40 days a year.”

Zamboni 101

YOU’VE SEEN ONE AT YOUR LOCAL ICE RINK, BUT HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE DRIVEN ONE?

Before Frank Zamboni developed the machine in 1949 that bears his name, resurfacing an ice rink took a team of men and a tractor about an hour. The early Zambonis were based on Jeeps. It wasn’t until 1964 that the Zamboni HD-series took on the enclosed shape and design that we know today.

Press Sighting: The Selvedge Yard

“I had mentioned awhile back that I have a new Saturday gig, and it’s not a bad one at that. Friends of mine started-up the Vulcan Motor Club in Chester, NJ (where I hang) and have also recently branched out to Long Island, NY. The club makes a lot more sense than sinking tons of your own dough into buying an exotic– when you join immediately there’s an arsenal of the latest high performance and luxury vehicles at your fingertips, with none of the ownership worries in terms of maintenance, upkeep, depreciation, etc. All you need to worry about is– which car will it be today.”

Press Sighting: Bryan Maltier

“The Vulcan Motor Club is just what your looking for if you want to drive a supercar but not pay the super price. The club allows you to reserve a car in their fleet to drive. From the looks of it they have some really great choices; The Aston Martin DB9 Coupe, Ford GT, and Audi A8 just to mention a few I wouldn’t mind taking for a spin. Membership prices range from $13,500 to $36,000 a year depending on how much flexibility you want. I only need the “Wind & fire tour” described below. It runs $1240 plus tax and is all I need for a quick rush.”

Tesla’s Electric Car for the (Well-Off) Masses

With the economy in the tank and oil prices low, most drivers have more to worry about than their gas bills. Still, the prospect of a Silicon Valley company shaking up the moribund automobile industry with a new all-electric car was enough to draw a crowd for the Mar. 26 unveiling of Tesla Motors’ Model S.

The first electric car produced by entrepreneur Elon Musk, the South Africa-born co-founder of PayPal, caused a sensation when it rolled out in 2006. The Tesla Roadster was a low-slung, $109,000 rocket ride, with a body based on the Lotus Elise and capable of going from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds. It was among the first cars to marry an all-electric engine with the looks and speed of a sports car. Musk’s company, Tesla Motors, claims to have sold 1,200 Roadsters, with 250 delivered to wealthy, tech-savvy eco-enthusiasts in such places as Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, and New York.

Join the Vulcan Facebook Club

Yes, we know. There was a time when it was cool to be on Facebook. That time has passed. Facebook now has 150 million members, and its fastest-growing demographic is 30 and up. At this point, it’s way cooler not to be on Facebook. We’ve ruined it for good, just like we ruined Twilight and skateboarding. So git! And while you’re at it, you kids better get off our lawn too.

Moving on…here’s the plan. We’re keeping our regular award winning, high class website. But for those of you looking for the behind-the-scenes scoop on what goes on at Vulcan, click here to join our fan club:
